Under 16

pathway for all kids

Juniors Program

Our Juniors program caters for all children under 16 at any skill level. If your child is just starting out, the IceArena runs a range of weekly trainings from basic skating skills to hockey skills during school terms. We have mapped out the pathway below based on your child's experience

I'VE ONLY JUST STARTED SKATING

Hockey is fast paced and requires a set of skating skills such as stopping, skating backwards and being able to change direction fast. We recommend you enrol in the IceArena’s skate school

I CAN SKATE AND STOP BUT HAVENT PLAYED ICE HOCKEY BEFORE

Our junior programs will teach you the necessary skills to enjoy ice hockey at each level. If this is your first time playing ice hockey, we recommend you enrol in the IceBlast program

IceBlast is a great inexpensive way to see if hockey is the sport for you. Ran during the school term over 6-10 weeks, all gear is supplied and the basics of skating and hockey are taught in a fun environment.

I CAN CONTROL THE PUCK AND MOVE AROUND THE ICE

Once you’re comfortable moving around the ice in all of your gear with a puck, you’re ready to play hockey.

Our junior program runs from April to September, training on Thursday nights and games on Sunday morning.

LEVEL UP YOUR HOCKEY SKILLS

Between IHSA and the IceArena, there’s a bunch of training programs suited for players under 16.

Ice Blast

The ice blast program is a great first step into playing hockey. Players 9 and under are provided full ice hockey gear for each session and under 16 are provided with a helmet and hockey stick.

The experienced coaches teach the basics from skating, stopping and hockey skills over 6 lessons. Ice Blast takes away the financial risk and gives the opportunity to see if you enjoy ice hockey.
